Celebrating a special couple’s day at
Mountain View Ranch Colorado
Savannah and Mike have been married for over a year now and we get to take a step back and hear about their lovely big day! I am so lucky to get to talk to and work with such amazing couples and get to share just a bit in such a special time!
Event Planning Comes with Hiccups No One Can Plan For
Savannah and Mike initially hoped to get married at The Stanley Hotel made famous by The Shining, but that unfortunately didn’t work out. When booking popular venues like The Stanley be prepared to be placed on a waiting list. If you have a specific date in mind, try planning a year or two in advance and have a long engagement. That way you get the date and location you desire.
If this happens to you too and you need to find a new venue, but keep it similar to your top choice. You can always google, or you can reach out to your current vendors and ask if they have a vendors list. As a vendor myself I pride myself on my vendor list and heavily endorse everyone on it.
They instead decided to trust the process and booked a new venue sight unseen. Mike, the groom, actually found the venue by finding them online and looking at photos. The beautiful mountain and forest escape was just what they were dreaming of. Since they live in the St. Louis area but were getting married in Colorado they couldn’t just go check the venue out on a random Saturday. They worked with the venue’s planner remotely. Savannah said “Wedgewood Weddings owns the venue and was amazing to work with, so it was a great planning experience even without seeing the venue.” This is very important because they didn’t see the actual location until their rehearsal dinner the night before!
How We Worked Together to Develop The Perfect Color Palette
Pinterest is a couple’s best friend for wedding planning and that goes for Savannah too! She knew she wanted emerald green but was undecided on an accent color. When choosing your color palette I advise my clients to first think of their favorite colors, then the theme they are wanting or the location of the venue.
Through that process Savannah landed on rust. Being a forest/mountain wedding theme we knew we wanted to use earthy tones. She didn’t want muted colors though so we went with deep earthy tones, emerald green and rust.
The Mountain Wedding Stationery Of Her Dreams
Now that the color palette was nailed down it was time to start designing. Savannah knew she wanted a mountain ranch theme with a touch of elegance that wasn’t typical of Colorado weddings. We incorporated the forest trees at the bottom and the rustic feel with the old paper like texture of the background.
For the fonts, I try to limit my clients to no more than two fonts. Working together we chose a classic Serif font and a cursive that was elegant but still legible. We tied in the color pallet with the fonts as well by highlighting their names in the rust color.
Incorporating the Mountain Theme Into The Stationery
For the menus, we nodded to the mountains as well. Savannah didn’t want just plain menus, so we decided to incorporate the mountains and forest at the top. The text was below appearing to come out of the design. We did the same thing with the table numbers and the wedding programs. We matched the invitations by incorporating the forest at the bottom. Throughout the whole stationery package we maintained the mountain/forest theme and the color palette. This is very important to make sure every aspect of your wedding is staying true to your theme to guarantee a wonderful wedding like Savannah and Mikes.
Every aspect of this wedding was truly a dream. From the beautiful venue Mountain View Ranch, the total vibe that was DJ Maestro, to the incredible make up by Nikole Knebel. The day was absolutely breathe taking and I am so excited we get to share them with you. I hope you love these photos and this wedding as much as I do.
